Winter finally ended and we’re looking forward hopefully to better weather than the summer of 2017.
On Victoria Day we transplanted our giant pumpkins at the farm in Richmond Hill in preparation for your Thanksgiving and Halloween displays. As in Muskoka, it was a beautiful summer day.
Summer has arrived in Muskoka, bypassing Spring altogether. Silver Stream Farms market is open again for the 2015 season. Early warm weather has accelerated the growing season and we have the fresh Ontario asparagus in our produce room now. Rhubarb is ready and it won’t be long before Ontario strawberries are being picked.
After a late winter and short spring, Ontario field-grown fruits and vegetables are beginning to reach the local markets. Asparagus leads the charge every summer and this year the quality and taste has been exceptional. There is still time to enjoy but the season always ends too soon.
Fresh Ontario strawberries are in our Port Sandfield Market now! Warm weather has made the berries extra sweet.
Asparagus lovers should be in heaven right now as the Ontario asparagus season is at its peak. Here at Silver Stream Farms, we carry both regular and organic asparagus grown by a local farmer that we have been dealing with for over 30 years. The season comes and goes so quickly, it’s hard to get enough.
